Three tips when selecting Aluminum windows

When you are selecting the Aluminum windows for your new home, you may be overwhelmed by the sheer quantity of information available, here are three tips that I am definitely sure is helpful before you make decisions:

I. Determine the profile - Is it for internal or external windows?

First of all, the conclusion, external windows: thermal break aluminium windows are recommended. Internal windows: PVC, aluminium-magnesium alloy or ordinary aluminium alloy are recommended.  

   external windows are windows that connect the interior and the exterior, and require high stability, sealing, sound and heat insulation, so more budget needs to be allocated to purchase better profiles, glass         and hardware. The interior windows, generally for space separation, room aesthetics services, the pursuit of sealing and other performance is not high, you can use the lower cost of plastic steel or ordinary         aluminum alloy, while paying attention to moisture resistance, space saving and other performance. 

III. Determine the glass

1. Acoustic glass or ordinary glass? 

Firstly, the conclusion.

For high sound-insulation requirements, noisy environments such as road frontage, or decibel meters measuring indoor noise greater than 70 dB during the day, use laminated insulating glass, which can also effectively block out more penetrating low frequency noise.

2.low-e glass or not ?

Conclusion: rooms with longer direct sunlight are recommended to use low-e glass, generally speaking if your house faces south and west sun (bright sunshine) is recommended low-e, if facing east, because the sunshine will not be so strong in the morning, you can choose freely, if facing north, low-e is not necessary.

PS: what is Low-e glass?  Low-E glass, or low emissivity coated glass, with a film system consisting of multiple layers of metal or other compounds coated on the glass surface. The coating layer has the characteristics of high transmission of visible light and high reflection of medium and far infrared rays, which makes it have excellent heat insulation and good light transmission compared with ordinary glass and traditional architectural coated glass.

III. Determine window type

There are mainly 8 types of windows, sliding window, swing window (casement window), awning window, tilt&turn window, double hung window (vertical sliding window), bi-folding window, vertical bi-folding window and fixed window. among them, except for fixed window, casement window (swing window) has the best performance of sealing effect, while sliding window’s sealing effect is not as good as others. You can choose according to your preferences, but please mark my words, when you choose window type, function is what really matters, appearance is of secondary importance.
